Star Gazing

Over the past months, Katie and I have been able to watch and meet some awesome entertainers. We saw Yakov in Branson, AWESOME very funny! Diana Degarmo in Brooklyn, She should have won American Idol! Finally last night we saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Norbert Leo Butz, the 2005 Tony Award Winner for best Actor, Norbert Leo Butz reprise the role for which he won. He was with out a doubt the best performer I have EVER seen live. I MEAN THE BEST! He was on last night. The great thing about these shows were that we actually got to meet and get autographs from these AMAZING entertainers! It has been a blast!

Lindsey Blogger Flash Back - Christmas is finally over!

Today was the first day that I looked in the corner of my living room, only to find dust, cables, and a ripped out socket. My Christmas tree hid that mess so well. I became the tacky Christmas tree owner, I did not take it down till last night. It almost became a part of my living room furniture. Oh how I love Christmas Tree. It will be another 11 months until I'm able to bring him out of his box and decorate him with such pretty ornaments and ribbons. As I'm mourning over the departure of my friend I could only think of fond Christmas memories. Every year my friend Katie and I, drive around together to look at the Christmas lights. We like to take pictures with the tackiest Christmas lights we can find. The picture above, won our award for the Ugliest Christmas Lights of 2004. If anyone is in the Fort Worth area at Christmas time next year, you have to visit this place in person. It was UNBELIEVABLE!! If you look closely, you will notice a border around the yard made with a white shelf. Well along that white shelf were those little Christmas Villages that you see in the living room of your grandmother's house with the fake snow sprinkled all over it. There had to have been fifty little Christmas Villages along the yard. Also to our right was a whole train set sitting on his yard with a glass covering. Then to our left was about 12 Christmas trees bordering the edge of the yard. I hadn't ever seen anything like it before in my life. Oh how I love Christmas. It's so long away.
I will miss Christmas Tree.

Ryan Got It and now the rest of the story...

Ok, I was on Ebay and I was just looking around so I decided to see what Cowboy tickets were doing. We'll the first 2 I bought I got for 9.38 plus 9 for shipping. Then I noticed another pair ending in 1 min at .99 cents and I bid and WON! That's right 2 for a dollar! All four tickets are worth over 150.00 dollars, I paid less than 30. Sometimes Ebay can be the most amazing place to shop ever. I mean where else can you get two cowboy tickets for a buck. I mean come on! AMAZING!

I got Katie a Surprise can you guess what it is?

After it has been guessed correctly I will tell the rest of the story.

Day 13 Back from a day of cleaning.

Biked 24 min, 5.6 miles the revolutions varied from 80 to 95 but I was not as consitent as I would like to have been.

Weight Training:

Abs - 4X15 at 60ls.
Chest Pull - 4 X10 at 60lbs.
Chest Incline - 2X10 at 60lbs.
Pecks - 2X10 at 60 lbs.
Arm Pull - 2X10 at 70lbs.
Low Row - 4 X10 at 70lbs.

Yesterday I took off to clean our house for Katie, and by clean I mean laundry, dishes, vacuming, mowing, and cleaning. It took me all day, but KK was putting in a hard day for us at school and I wanted to surprise her. Today was hard and it was the first time I didn't complete all of my reps in my weight training. I am still at 219 so that is good. I still haven't been eating lie I should, but hey I am losing weight and gaining muscle, I am not complaining! YAHOO!

Pecks - 4X7 at 60lbs.

I am starting today to bring my eaing habits to my exercise habits in hope that I can really speed up my weight loss. I had a good day working out, all though my legs did feel heavy on the bike. I find that any exercise with Chest and Pecks are harder than other areas of weight training. All in all good day at the gym!

Day 9 I Love Working Out

Biked 25min, 6 miles, kept the revolutions over 85 and mostly over 88.

Weight Training: Lower Body

Leg Press - 4X10 at 120lbs.
Abs - 5X10 at 60lbs.

I am finding out, that I am becoming addicted to the GYM! What a great thing to become addicted to! I found that when I was sick, I was miserable because all I though was, man I want to workout. Now that I am back, I am so full of energy and life! I love the GYM! I am so glad I forced myself to return. I was right that the only way to really become invested in working out is to do it everyday. I am seeing a difference in only 9 days, think about in like 90 days of actually working out! It just gets me so excited!

Thursday, August 17, 2006

Day 8 Back from the sickness

Okay, I have been pretty sick for the last 5 days, I was afarid I was going to have trouble getting back on the bike, but I did it. I was very relieved that my will has gotten stronger and I was able to pick up where I left off, of course it was much harder today, but well worth it!

Weekend Rest

I am resting on the weekend. I think I might have a little cold. I won't let it stop me, this is what made me stop last time.

Friday, August 11, 2006

Day 7 - The Day After Yesterday

Biked 25min - 6 miles; kept the rotation for the most part over 85. After a day of rest, I found it harder to stay above 85 revolutions the entire length of the ride.

Weight Training:

Rotary Calf - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Abductor - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Soleus - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Leg Press - 2X10 at 140lbs.
Abs - 10X10 at 50lbs.
Chest - 5X10 at 50lbs.
Pecks - 5X10 at 50lbs.
Arm Row - 5X10 at 50lbs.
Arm Curl - 5X10 at 50lbs.

Okay, so I took yesterday off. What that meant was I knew the bike was going to be a bit harder and I knew I had to do both upper and lower weight training since I missed lower yesterday. But, I did it! I worked through my 25 min bike ride! WOOHOO 25 min! I am at level 4, I will start level 5 in another week, I can't wait! My arms are really taking to the weights, there are parts that hurt worse than others, but I am starting to really feel the progression! Great Day!

Day 6 Bring on the PAIN

Biked 24 min 5.6 miles - kept the revolutions above 85.

Weight Training

Abs - 10X10
Chest - 5X10
Pecks - 5X10
Arm Row - 5X10
Arm Curl - 5X10

Today was about brining on the pain. Yesterday was lower weight training, but I really felt the previous day's upper weight training. I thought I was going to die, I hate that you have to tear muscle to build it. I was still sore, but I felt good, while training today. I even do not hurt quite as bad as yesterday. I wish pain didn't have to be a part of this, but I guess if it was easy everyone would do it.

Day 5 Wade and Working out

Biked 23 min 5.5 miles - kept the bike over 85 revolutions per minute the entire length of the ride.

Weight Training:

Rotary Calf - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Abductor - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Soleus - 4X10 at 50lbs.
Leg Press - 4X10 at 100lbs.

Today was a little hard, I had to be at Wades surgery at 7:30. Although it turned out it really wasn't until 9:00. So I was a little frustrated that I didn't get to workout in the early morning, but Wade and Patty are very important. So I wanted to make sure I was there. So at 11:45 Wade was finished and everything went well, better than expected. So I left after hearing all went well and made it to the gym and was able to complete my workout, take a shower, the first time in a LONG time at the gym, get ready and make it home to have a light lunch. 5 days down and I am felling stronger, but I am hurting a bit from the weight training on my upper body from yesterday, especially right under my arms and my chest. Great day, Wade is ok and I accomplished today's fitness training.

Day 4 08/0706 The devil tried and failed!

Day 4

Weight 222

22min bike 5.4 miles.

Weight Training

1. Chest 5 X 10 reps at 40lbs
2. Pecks 5 X10 reps at 40lbs
3. Triceps 5 X10 reps at 40lbs
4. Deltiods 5X10 reps at 40lbs
5. Shoulders 2X10 reps at 40lbs
6. ABs 6X10 reps at 40lbs

The devil tried to keep me from working out and failed! So I get up at 6:45 to go workout, I get in my car and arrive at 7am. I go to my bike after stretching and begin to put in my information. Just as I was about to start my ride, I get this call over the loud speaker to go to the front desk. It was Katie. Apparently we had lost electricity to our house. It just so happens that only OUR side of the street lost power. UMM WHAT! We'll Katie's car was still in the garage, no power, no car. So I had to drive back home and let Katie have the car. So I sat there in the dark for 10 min, just pondering what the devil was throwing at me. I decided that I would for the time being water my front and side yard. So I continued to do that until about 9am when the electricity came back on. I then jumped back in my car and worked out. I could have let this defeat me and stay home, but I didn't I stuck to my guns and completed my workout for the day. I know I will have MANY obstacles in my path throughout this journey, but small victories with God's help will keep me motivated and moving forward and not backwards. I love small victories!

WORKING FOR A BETTER LIFE!

I have finally had enough! Enough with the out of breath business! Enough with the double chin business! Enough of my rolls and flabby limbs! I started two days ago, I have now biked 5 miles each of the last 3 days. I will starting Monday begin biking each day with weight training every other day. My goal is to get to 175 and be fit and built. I want a healthy life and I am committing to do this now. I will be using my blog as a sort of daily diary through my journey. I would love for everyone to use this to hold me accountable and give me encouragement. I know this will be hard, but it is something I want for my life. So here I go!

Starting Weight : 223

Today I biked for 20 min. 4.7 miles.

It was tiring today, but not as bad as yesterday. I felt the pain in my back upper thighs, but I pushed through it. When I was done I was very tight in my thighs. I probably should stretch more, I seem to rush that. But my energy has already increased so much. My knees had been hurting but that has gone away! So 3 days down and I am already feeling the increase in energy and my body is feeling stronger. My joints are feeling great! I am looking forward to next week when I really start my morning workouts and weight training. Wish me luck!

Also Katie will be working out as well, please give her encouragement!

YES I DO! This is spooky. He lives with my parents. He is the last pet I have owned, the dog doesn't count! He looks a bit beaten up, but he had to get tough living with the prvious cat I had Hook. You can tell how hard he lives by the one torn ear. He is one tough cat! But he is also very sweet. Cats are terrific, Unless your anyone from Katies family and then it's just, you got cats or somethin!

To Blog or Not to Blog?

It seems that blogging is becoming some what an old hat. I can already see signs of the blogging trend dying out. Igive it maybe another year before we leave the blog. I guess people have jumped on the my space train. I guess the thought of having MY SPACE seems a bit more exciting than a BLOG. We'll if your out there and you still Blog, I hope you comment on what you think will happen to the blogging trend. If not then I guess a year might be to long.

Im turning 29 and here is what I want for my B-Day.

I am part of one messed up generation. I don't know why but my generation are gamers. We are Gen-Gamers. I am turning 29 on May 23 and I am getting a Nintendo DS from my Mom and Dad and I am getting the New Super Mario Brothers from Katie. Did I mention I was turning 29. I guess the only consolation is that I will be able to compete with my children, if I ever let them have a turn.

Here is a peek at the NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS coming to the DS.

ORIGINAL OR UPDATED?

George Lucas is finally putting out the original theatrical version of the star wars trilogy on DVD.

I want to know which do you prefer. The original or the tweaked version. Tell me why!

Legal versus illegal

Ok I want to put my two cents in on the immigration debate. It is very simple.

1. Legal - Good for you and thank you for contributing to our great nation.
2. Illegal - You are a criminal. You break American Laws. You have no rights, that includes free speech. Go home and learn English and get here legally. Stop protesting, you look like a bunch of uneducated people. You want real results, throw your Mexican flag away and get an American flag. YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!

I am sick of the protests and I am sick of freeloaders with NO RIGHTS!

ILLEGAL MEANS ILLEGAL!

Thank you!

FYI my ancestors were immigrants too. They came here legally.

Have you ever wondered...

Why are boogers sticky?

No doubt your child is starting a brilliant scientific career with this question!
"Boogers" are made of mucus. Mucus is made by mucus membranes. Your body has mucus membranes in all sorts of places: The stomach, intestines, nose, lungs, eyes, mouth, and the urinary tract all contain mucus membranes that secrete mucus.

Mucus contains mostly water and mucin (during a sinus or lung infection, it also contains dead white blood cells that have been working on the infection -- see How Your Immune System Works for details). It is the mucin that makes it sticky.

Mucin is a branched polysaccharide. If you have read How Food Works, then you know about saccharides -- they are sugar chains. Starch, for example, is a polysaccharide. As you've probably noticed, if you mix corn starch or flour with water, you get a sticky substance. Mucin is doing the same thing. Mucus is essentially a thin paste made of mucin and water.

Show your four-year-old how corn starch and water is sticky (especially as it dries out) and he will be looking at synthetic boogers! Then ask them if they would like to eat it. If they say no, then tell them not to eat their own.

It's EVEN BETTER

My last post I talked about my MP3 car cd player, we'll I pushed the limits and I still could have had more.
I made an ulitimate country cd with 14 country cds that I owned, legally! It was only 623MB a CD can hold 700MB. So I could have had like 17 or 18 CDs on it. But the total of tracks on that CD was 186. AMAZING!

THE MP3 CD Player In My Car and Why It Rocks!

Ok, so you know I got a new car. We'll I am finding out just how awesome my car really is. The CD player in my car is also an MP3 player. You might ask, so? We'll let me tell you so. An MP3 player is just about like having an ipod inside of your car. Here is the low down...

1. Unlike normal Audio CD's instead of maybe 13 to 20 songs on a disk, you can put over 150 on a CD and not lose ANY quality. The difference is that instead of an audio CD it is made into a DATA CD. Since MP3s are WAY smaller in size than any other audio file it allows for more songs, like 140 more songs. Thus it's like an Ipod for your car.

2. My MP3 player in my car actually tells you the songs your are listening to. Not track 1, but it would say Jesus Walks. On normal Cd's it wouldn't do that, it would just say track 1.

3. Folders, or as I call them albums. When you make an MP3 CD using the data format you can organize your music into albums. Take for instance I am combining all of my Sarah McLachlan Cd's into one. With the MP3 cd, you can actually put the music into seperate folders (albums).
So, each album is individual on the disk, (Solace) (Sarah Mclachlan) (Mirror Ball) (After Glow) etc.. Here is were my car player rocks, It has Folder buttons that let me go from Folder (Album) to Folder (Album) and it has all the songs in that Album under it to listen to. IT ROCKS!

So, having an MP3 player in your car is about the coolest thing ever. It's like having a 14 disc cd changer in your car with out all the CDs. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

Down Grading to Up Grade

Ok, so When Katie and I were at OC and we had a lot of extra cash we decided to go out and buy a brand new car. We went with the Nissan Altima, a great car. It was huge and roomy, great interior and exterior. We loved it. The bad part was that in reality we weren't Altima people. We really couldn't afford the Altima at the time and ended up with a 6 year loan. So fast forward 3 years, the Altima isn't as nice as it was, it has over 50,000 miles, and we still have 3 years left on our loan. So Katie and I decided to see if we couldn't get a deal to correct our spontaneous venture 3 years ago. What we wanted was to get out of our Altima and get in a brand new car and have it paid off in 3 years the same we had on our Altima. We were willing to pay more a month to do it, but it had to be paid off in 3 years. So we went to the Ford dealer in town and told them exactly what we were wanting to accomplish. So After test driving the Fusion and the Focus and getting the number crunched, we came up with this. We were able to get the top Focus and have it paid off in 3 years paying only 58 more dollars a month then we were. So now after six years we will have a 3 yr old car instead of a six year old car and it will have 30,000 instead of 90,000. It will also look much better. Then When we buy a new car we will have a much better second car. This way we will only have one car payment for a while. The dealership gave us 2000 over what our Altima was worth. We also saved on inspection and tags and gas since the filled it up. We also will save a lot on gas. So here you go our brand new 2006 Ford Focus, the Down grade to Up grade.

2006 Ford Focus

This is exactly what it looks like. It has less the 100 miles, man that feels so good!

I bought Katie seasons tickets to the 2006 Dallas Summer Musicals. I had never been to a musical until I met Katie. My first one was the Lion King at the Dallas Summer Musicals. Then on our honeymoon we went to New York and we saw Chicago and Les Mis. It was an awesome experience. I love the musical experience. This season at the Dallas Summer Musical is going to be the best yet. Especially with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I CAN NOT WAIT! We are seeing our first show April 2nd, Phantom of the Opera. So let the season begin, I am ready to be entertained and blown away!

A GREAT story from someone who loves Lean Cuisine!

Italian-Style Threats

A few weeks ago, I was enjoying a Lean Cuisine french bread pizza when I noticed these words on the package.

I sent off this prank e-mail to the parent company, Nestle USA.

Dear Lean Cuisinarts: Yesterday I was eating a Lean Cuisine french bread pizza when I noticed the words "New! Italian-Style Flavor." I'm completely baffled by this. What's new about Italian-Style Flavor? Were the old Lean Cuisine pizzas made by Indians, or Israelis? Were they manufactured in a Korean sweatshop? You don't advertise "New Chinese-Style Flavor" on your frozen eggrolls, or "New Hispanic-Style Flavor" on your beans and rice. Italian-Style Flavor has been going on for over 2000 years, and here you come along and act like you invented it. As a fifth-generation Italian-American, I take the deepest offense at this thoughtless, insensitive product packaging. If I do not receive a prompt reply, I will be forced to switch my loyalty to Hungry-Man. They're not as healthy as your frozen dinners, but at least they respect Italians. And you'll be getting a call from my uncle.

That's a promise, not a threat, John Spinelli-Hargrave

I received a typical form response from Nestle, which I'll spare you, telling me to call their 1-800-number. This always cracks me up, that companies set up a team of workers to respond to complaints via e-mail, then have them refer customers to another team to respond via telephone. Well, that wasn't going to work for my website, so I persisted.

Dear Nestle/Stouffers/Lean Cuisine: Thank you for your form letter, but I must insist that you answer my original question, which was regarding your "New! Italian-Style Flavor" claim on your Lean Cuisine french bread pizza. Why are you just now getting around to making your pizzas taste Italian? Was the old flavoring Japanese? And why would you flavor a FRENCH bread pizza with ITALIAN seasoning? It's like freaking Epcot Center in there! As a fifth-generation Italian-American, I am highly offended by this desperate attempt at ethnic marketing. It takes a lot more than a few extra dried spices on your soggy hunks of lifeless bread to capture real Italian-style flavor. It takes hours of simmering, a few good bottles of wine, and a loving Italian grandmother. I expect a proper response this time, or I will paying you a personal visit.

John Hargrave-Spinelli

This time I switched around my last name just to see if they were paying attention. Finally: the payoff.

Dear Mr. Spinelli-Hargrave, Thank you for contacting Nestlé on the Internet. We welcome questions and comments from our consumers. Upon receiving your e-mail, we attempted to contact you by telephone to discuss your comments regarding the statement, "New! Italian-Style Flavor," which appears on our LEAN CUISINE Pizza package. Please be assured, when we added the statement to our package, we did not intend to insult anyone. The statement was added to the package because we increased the spice profile of the product, which enhanced the flavor of our sauce. I sincerely apologize that we offended you and have reported your comments about the statement being insensitive to the appropriate personnel within the company for their review. Once again, thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. In addition to reporting your comments, I have sent via regular mail a letter with several full-value coupons to encourage you to give our products another try. I trust that these actions express our desire to respond to your concerns and I hope that we may serve you as a satisfied consumer in the future. If you would like to discuss this situation further, please do not hesitate to contact me, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern Time.

Sincerely, Dawn Schneike Consumer Response Representative

A few ZUG readers expressed disbelief that I would actually receive the coupons in the mail. Well, lookee here, suckahs: I now have enough free Lean Cuisine coupons to last me through a small famine.

In my seven years of doing prank e-mail, I have never seen such a thorough response to my silly requests. I hereby proclaim Nestle's to have the best customer service of any consumer goods company in America.

Apparently there is such a thing as a free lunch. You just have to pose as a deranged Italian mobster in order to get it.

Living again.

I normally don't write personal blogs, I leave that to people like Lindsay. But as I sit here thinking about my next post, I wondered if it is right to post again after something like what Katie and I went through. I mean here on my Blog are my most highest highs and lowest lows. How do you move on. I came to the realization that it is not moving on I have to do, it's to keep on living. Our lost baby will always be a part of Katie and I. We will have always lost a child. It is the hardest thing. But you can't stop moving, living. So as I start posting again I am not moving on, but I am living. I loved my baby that I never knew, like I will love the children I will know. I know there will be times Katie and I will cry about this in the future and that's okay. So I am living again. Thank you so much for all the support. We love each and everyone of you.

Gentle Jesus up above, give our baby all our love.

I just wanted to express the gratitude for the prayers and help we have recieved. Yesterday we received word that our little baby went to be with Jesus in Heaven. While this is hard, Katie and I have found strength in God. We are excited that we can get pregnant, which was a concern of ours. We love each and everyone of you. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for your love and prayers. Jesus will take good care of our baby until we can be with him or her. God bless you all.

Please Pray for Us

Please pray for Katie and our baby. She is experiencing some problems. Right now we are in limbo with the situation and won't know more until Monday. We ask that you just pray. Thank you to everyone.
